FREE First Aid on Farms courses for the Tararua District

Developed to build rural community resilience, this 4-hour course comprehensively addresses the primary first aid requirements for individuals in rural settings, including those on New Zealand farms.

This course covers:

  • Essential first aid techniques: managing severe bleeding, applying tourniquets, managing burns and soft tissue injuries, stabilising limbs and fractures, and moving patients
  • CPR, managing shock, and handling bleeding
  • Dealing with common medical emergencies
  • Identifying first aid equipment needs
  • Practical scenario-based training, such as responding to quad bike rollovers or incidents involving animals
  • Tailored considerations for rural environments, encompassing challenges like working in isolation, limited access to emergency services, and the remoteness factor
