Read both documents fully, from beginning to end, to refamiliarise yourself, no matter how long you have been a PTS trainer. Do not assume you remember everything or skip any sections.

PTS Trainer Assessment Guide:Shock PTS Assessor Scenario Sheets: Shock

As explained earlier, this course does not cover the complete assessment guide or scenario sheet; instead it focusses on a few aspects that are of particular relevance to training and assessment of shock. This does not mean that you don’t need to know the rest of the assessment guide or scenario sheet, so talk to your regional training coordinator if you have any questions.

The aspects we are focussing on are:

  • How the PTS training and assessment system ensures we are training and assessing at the right NZQA level;
  • Ensuring you ask the right verification questions;
  • Giving you soundbites for your debriefs; and
  • Re-emphasising the importance of following the PTS training and assessment system and the consequences for your learners if you are deviating from it.
