This part of the course is about what effective first aiders (and therefore your learners) need to know and be able to do. A lot of this has already been covered in the soundbites shown in the previous section. The purpose of this part is to remind you exactly what the scope of our first aid courses is and what the consequences are if you deliver more content than you are meant to.
Ensure that you are familiar with all learning material available to learners, so that you
– don’t just repeat what they have already learned
– can guide them back to their pre-course learning materials
– respond to their questions in a way that is consistent with the resources they have access to.
If the information you deliver is inconsistent with the pre-course learning material or the Quick Reference Guide, your learners will be confused and that will reduce their effectiveness as a first aider.
